While no one could tell you the BEST place in Texas Hill Country for you to settle down, EVERYONE has an opinion. There are numerous cities within Texas Hill Country, and all of them offer residents the finest shopping, dining, access to schools, fishing, golf and a host of other activities and amenities. I was looking for custom home building books and came across a great ebook cover that caught my eye and did some more investigating to find the actual ebook. It all comes down to what YOU want, because you’ll certainly find it. Horseshoe Bay near Lake Lyndon B. Johnson is the perfect place to build a retirement or vacation home. The lake offers many water activities, boating being the most popular. Many exciting events are hosted in this city each year, too, and the well-known Horseshoe Bay Resort offers golf, a marina and a spa for ultimate relaxation whether you live there or you’re just visiting. The town is often used as a wedding venue and corporate retreat destination, so you never know just what – or who –  you might see in Horseshoe Bay.

For a faster pace, consider the state’s capital, Austin. There’s always something to see and do in Austin, Texas. Hyde Park, Town Lake and Zilker Park are a few of the points of interest in this great city. Other forms of entertainment are available in bustling Austin. The television show Austin City Limits is (obviously) filmed there, and the Botanical Gardens invite even seasoned visitors back again and again with their ever-changing beauty. If busy days and an active nightlife are what you’re looking for, look no further than Austin, Texas.

Kyle, Texas has experienced rapid growth over the last 10 to 15 years, primarily because of the town’s proximity to Austin. Although some worry that the growth has happened too fast, the town has accommodated the changes effortlessly. Commuters like the convenience of living near work but the luxury of living in a “small town.” You may not, however, consider Kyle all that small. There are shopping centers popping up everywhere, and there are many popular restaurants as well.

Dripping Springs, TX, is another small city that is growing quickly. The excellent school system draws many young families, while others come for the natural beauty in the area. Hamilton Pool, Pedernales Falls and Reimer Ranch are all very close by, and all offer hiking and other activities for outdoor enthusiasts. Lots of delicious restaurants with quirky, charming names are in Dripping Springs, too, such as Nutty Brown Café and Thyme & Dough Bakery.

If you want to far away from the hustle and bustle of big city life, what better place to build a home than Comfort, Texas? Set atop hills that overlook the Guadalupe River, Comfort is a quiet, little-known paradise northwest of San Antonio. An historic downtown reminds one of a simpler time. Comfort hosts shows, concerts and other events frequently during the year, and Christmastime in Comfort, Texas is especially charming. Three wineries are located close by, and the town is known for antique shopping and tasty restaurants. There are also opportunities for mountain biking and hiking nearby.
